Hair master and humanitarian, John Paul DeJoria, knows what defines success.
As one of the true leaders in
the professional hair industry,
John Paul DeJoria,
CEO and Co-Founder of
John Paul Mitchell has an unwavering
commitment to help those less
fortunate. He believes that the future
of budding talent in the hair industry
is his obligation. So much so, that he is
creating his own schools to help groom
these up and comers, ensuring the success
of the next generation of haircutters.
An industry giant like DeJoria recognizes
the importance of branding in the marketplace,
and he realizes the need for people
to graduate from schools with exceptional
skills, merchandising knowledge, and a
keen business sense. "The most important
thing is that we teach these students a
culture. How to like themselves, enjoy
the people around them, and how to give
back to their community and the world"
says DeJoria.
Experienced in the true value of success,
DeJoria says "The biggest difference between
successful people and unsuccessful
people is not how much money you make,
but what you do that unsuccessful people
aren't willing to do. For example, if are
rejected 50 times, as a successful person
you go for 51." DeJoria also notes that a
key to success is taking action, "If there is
something to do, you do it immediately;
you don't procrastinate for days or weeks.
And most importantly, when you are on
a roll with something, you stay focused,
and never, ever give up."
DeJoria is so passionate about life and
helping others that his philanthropic acts
do not go unnoticed. Everything from his
company's "give back" messaging, to feeding
the hungry, leaves us no doubt that
these core values will be instilled in the
next generation of hair professionals at
the Paul Mitchell schools.
When asked what his favorite word is?
He responded "ROCK EM'". Well, we
think you rock too, John Paul.
